Below is Brando's response to my comments on another topic.

Heya!

I’m not going to respond at length to your post on Saide’s thread (it’s not really the thread for that kind of discussion, though it is a decent example of the kinds of accusations I described), but I did want to touch on a few points, since it seems you’re still sore over a few things.

First off, unless some other imm has taken action, nothing has actually happened to Alzar - I haven’t touched him, and he certainly wasn’t “destroyed” the last time I saw him. For that matter, nothing bad necessarily had to happen to him - had you not immediately dropped character and begun swearing at me after a single line of dialog, Alzar would’ve had the same chances at RP (with all the opportunities that entails) that I give every player. I can promise you that much. The entire scenario was frozen upon getting sworn at, though - as is proper I let it rest, wrote up a report for LAW, and moved onto other things. I’m not sure if the remaining LAW members chose to intervene since I’ve been away. That being said, if your issue is that Alzar unknowingly walked into a bad situation in the first place, I’m not sure what to tell you, since world reactions (and the challenges they pose) are kind of what I was brought on to do.

As to the bit about allowing evil characters chances with plots...it was a little harder to follow that, but I think you’re referring to the incident with the Mystrans? You’ve already mailed me about that, and I think I responded clearly enough - the restrictions on that plot were identical for both characters in question, which the chief difference being that one character grit his teeth and put up with it for his (lesser) reward, while the other didn’t. And just to point it out, what happened with your character then wasn’t RP I was ever required to roll back (it was meant as a courtesy, since I do understand how one can RP actions without thinking first). If I was really harboring some grudge against you, I might have started by -not- doing that. Either way, that incident was pretty thoroughly documented and commented on by a number of imms (including one member of LAW), so I’m fairly confident that I’m free of wrong-doing, there.

Regarding the “heavy handed” and “tyrant” comments, I’m assuming you’re referring to how your own characters have fared on the whole of things? I seem to recall you expressing frustration on behalf of some other players as well, though - and I think you’re referencing Jysibyll with the “hours of work” comment. As I explained in my post on Saide’s thread, we’re not always at liberty to divulge game details (especially those that involve other players), although I do understand how at times that can come off as dismissive or insulting. I am sorry for it, but I literally -can’t- tell you any more about that, though obviously she’s free to tell you whatever she likes.

The best advice I can give you is to encourage Jysibyll herself to voice these concerns herself through the proper channels (probably lawmail) since HMs are generally assumed to be capable of expressing themselves maturely and independently. Those channels are understandably slow at the moment, but they are there for a reason.

I’m not sure how much any of the above will help, since you seem pretty set on your opinion, but I likely owed you the recap anyway since we weren’t able to speak after early June. Enjoy the game. Smile

P.S. Just for the sake of transparency, I’ll be posting this response to the Legal section of the imm-side forum, where these disputes tend to end up. This is kind of an awkward format to do this in, but if you do happen to have a response to this, I’ll make sure it ends up on there as well. So rest assured that everyone who does needs to see this conversation, will.

My response, because we need and want transparency and I'm actually very hurt, pissed off in how somethings were handled. I've spent over 15 years of my life here and 3 years of that logged in to the game.

Characters I've had and the time to prove my point.

<Nienne: While probably moot by now, I have removed this character list, it's completely unnecessary to declare your alts to the world and against game rules to boot. Please avoid.>

I've played a lot and I care a lot, do I have a temper, am I blunt, can I be a dick, yes, yes, yes. Do I want the best for this place, yes. Do I keep coming back? Yes. This place is having and will have a super hard time recruiting new players, because we have about 50 different views on where we should go. I'm to the point where I think we should nuke it and all go on with our lives, but in the theme of transparency here is my response.

So I'm tired of people walking over me and each other. I'm tired of avatars like Brando hiding behind bullshit. I know the majority of wizzes, player, and immortal(who you play is), EVERYONE fucking does, so quit worrying about it.

Below is my response

Brandobaris,

You actually flat out lied to me when asked about Pangretor. You told me that he wasn't allowed to do it and then when Saide and Jys told me that he was I called you on that BS and you backtracked.

I have no issue with Alzar being Cyric's bitch Tsera has done it herself. I have major issue with you going against other immortals wishes. Kossuth had told her no to a Shadow dragon and no to going back to Cyric. She changes her mind all the time and you reward her. How do I know this? I spent 5 hours one night with Sierra in Cyric's temple helping her decide what she wanted. I personally went to Kossuth to see what he thought and we discussed the fickleness and what he told her. His reasons were sound, they were honest and they were final. I don't always agree with K, but on this he made sense. I knew from the second the plot started that there was no influencing it, you had it scripted out with every RP angle in her favor and its BULLSHIT to keep describing transparency and then hiding stuff. I'm quite aware of the entire situation from an OOC standpoint.

You can continue to do what you want, but from my point of view you are a heavy handed DM who favors people that he wants and not others. It is fine that has happened before, the problem is that you destroy others in the process. You want me to RP Alzar after he was bitch slapped by Cyric for attempting to murder another Cyricist? That is in OUR charge, I don't see him interfering and again, I don't think he would just "help" a traitor. I understand you maybe saying that she just "hid" the fact that she was a follower of Shar, but that isn't the RP that she did. You and Her changed it because you need to fit YOUR story.

You have a tendency to disregard the history of characters or rewrite them if they don't fit your them. You allowed Pang to do the plot and I couldn't even get a "lesser" ring like he got from Kelemvor because I was too famous. Pang had just destroyed Azha less than a RL month before hand, I hadn't done anything major with Alzar in over a year if not two. Secondly, you are wishy washy a lot. You said Alzar's allies in Shadow were gone, but them I'm still famous? You can't have it bother ways.

You can be a great avatar, but you have ZERO flexibility and I think you're pretty dishonest to begin with. I defended you for weeks to people and it is pretty obvious that you aren't willing to concede that you had some fault. I don't really care much what LAW thinks as their shit is about as clean as the rest of the mud. Don't worry for Transparency, I'm gonna post both of these on the forum.

Alzar

Oh dear.

I have no knowledge of this case at all. But from my standpoint I am in doubt what you intentions are with this post Alzar?

At first glance it appears to be a 'flame post'. Where you'r trying to point out to everyone how you have been wronged and how it is one particular persons fault?

I do understand you want transparency ... but I still fail to see the goal?

I mean, you want more audit on Avatars because you don't trust them?
You want to have more influence in how ava-pots are run? (is going to be hard if every players want that tho).

In any case. Even you pointed out you don't trust the LAW, it sounds to be a case for them.

I'm a little frustrated to see this rear its head yet again as it had already been addressed, to my knowledge. I'm not aware of any missteps by Brando, and given the already prominent and divisive issue at hand, we really don't need more imm-flaming to stoke the fire where it isn't merited. I'm entirely across that you didn't agree with the situation; I am also entirely across the fact that Brando had his plot approved and consulted throughout with me (law) and others. The plot in question was specifically to direct the area towards a final intended outcome, along with some extensive design work by Jysibyll several months previous. This won't be installed anytime soon, given circumstances, but eventually may get to where it was intended longterm.

I would once again strongly emphasise that not every plot will go in your favor, and not every plot will be to your likings. Not every dice roll will help you out. My own Shadovar introduction plot ended up extremely skewed to one side, which only came out as a result of player interpretation and activity, and some lucky (or not) dice rolls. One side ended up going in major circles by natural progression; it didn't take away from (hopefully) everyone enjoying it, and the players on that side jumped in and participated regardless, to their credit.

We all do what we can upstairs, with different styles and approaches. I have zero concerns on Brando's part. If there are any unaddressed issues still at hand, I would suggest the appropriate channels (lawmail or direct mudmail contact with suitably high-rank imms) rather than an inflammatory post on the forum. It doesn't resolve the situation and only breeds conflict.

Given the generally inflammatory nature of this thread and the alternative, more appropriate channels available, I will be locking this thread. I do not feel it serves any constructive purpose in the matter, and leaving it open only invites more unnecessary/divisive commentary.
