With mercs and retainers available for testing, people have asked if other services will be made available in the future.
Who better to offer day-to-day services like repairs, entertainment, rubble-digging and luggage-carrying than a well-trained slave?
We have the Exchange, The Scourge, as well as Tharis and Tonovi providing an excellent backdrop for a "live slave trade".
Mechanically they would function much like mercs with a added "you break you buy charge" if anyone dies. Perhaps a "set free" command could be added for the slavery-haters among you.
It would be a very politically aligned benefit, which in turn could cause conflict between players as some take advantage of the possibility, while others would rather see it burn, but it would also serve to high-light a very real part of our game world.

Perhaps down the line one could "capture and sell" slaves to the trading post, or sneak in at the dead of night to set them all free - like mini quests.

Seems plausible, have a lot of other projects in the works at the moment, but it's good to go on the list.

Why not buy a slave? Basically more like a retainer than a merc, would be expensive, and maybe have some undroppable item like a slave collar or tattoo to mark them as slaves. Still have a set free option, which gets you "good points", or however alignments work. Some cities might ban them, too. I imagine that they may not be good at combat, if possible. Or maybe they are - slaves = meatshield anyways, right? A good shield lasts more than one fight. Likely not priority, but I'd love to see this. I went to Tonovi expecting this and was disappointed. It also makes raising an army a thing a player can do (Should you lose all slaves if PK'd?), which could encoursge more political rp and world domination stuff.
