Hi kids! A few friendly reminders for issues that have been raised over the last few days - in particular, regarding alts and PK, both of which we are happy to permit, but that must be handled responsibly if you choose to engage in either or both options.
If you are engaged in a PK, or have suspicions of involvement, please note that we put in protections for edit/inactive as RL certainly has its way of disrupting things. On the opposite side of the coin, if we find that it is being abused to avoid legitimate situations, we may need to consider the repercussions thereof. A few pointers:
-if you need to step away from the keyboard, please use the <inactive> command. This will avoid any confusion as to whether you are available. If you simple go idle, any PK or other situations can and will be deemed valid; simply being idle is not a protection from this kind of engagement, so do not expect to have it negated if this is the case.
-if you know you are involved in PK or potentially may be, and you are patchy on your availability (eg/ playing from work, dealing with children) please be considerate of the other side of the fence - it is very disappointing to have someone need to leave the minute they are engaged. If you may have a more laid back alt, or have some crayoning to do off-game, etc, this may be a more constructive option than continuously having someone else wonder if they can interact.
As to alt use, please remember to be mindful of your alts and their engagements with other characters, both PK and general. Your alts do not know each other, and therein should not be recommending them to other people, or discussing them as though they are someone they know. Any family or friendship histories must be approved by immortals, and will only be granted when the prior character is no longer in use. Any knowledge should not be shared between characters, and any use of an alt to advantage the other (eg/ items, area access, PKs/revenge, etc) may result in the loss of a character.
Sorry for any negative tone, but I do think it's a timely reminder given we have relaxed a lot of restrictions. Despite this, we do expect you to be thoughtful of your fellow players - this is not the kind of game that can be played in a vacuum, and the rules that remain are primarily to ensure that someone's enjoyment of the game does not come at the cost of someone else's. Thanks for reading |
