I feel comfortable posting this now that I have some people involved. I am running a bit of a plot that is pretty simple, but should give some people some RP and background stuff. So far we have five people involved including myself, find me ICly to find out who or if you are an IMM just mail me in game and I'll send you who is in on it.

To make it short and simple we are looking to purchase the Old Mill east of Tharis from the Shadovar under a two year contract and build a dock in the connecting room to the southeast which leads to the sea but is currently blocked by boulders. The company is managed by a parent corporation that I operate out of the headquarters that I want to build on the island of Verbonbone.

The Mill will be doing buisness as Seaside Lumber Co. where as our shipping company will be doing buisness as Second Chance Shipping Co. but there may be others to come that we might start. All companies would be owned by Sigel Works Inc. which is the parent company.

I'm looking to make the company feel like the East Indies Co. or some other colonial meritime company and have some RP around building it up like in the James Clavell book Tai'Pan.

If you would like to join in check gossip when it is implemented or reach out on this thread so we can arrange a time to meet up on the MUD ICly.

Hi! Just a heads up this would be very much an imm-dependent plot (re: both property & city politics/involvement), so please ensure you have an imm's assistance first if you expect it to progress. Otherwise you may be stuck talking about it and not getting far! We are a little slim on imm hours upstairs right now so I would definitely encourage plots that can be self-directed where possible, otherwise there may be a considerable wait.

At this point, no - this would need to be handled appropriately by an imm, as I did mention in earlier mudmails to you. What you're trying to attempt, and where you're trying to attempt it, has a lot of potential issues/pitfalls given your character, so it can't just be assumed that you succeed by default - thus why I directed that you would need to have imm assistance before going any further Smile I'm thoroughly inclined that any character can try anything they want - the results, however, may vary!

If no-one is available by the time I have the new temples in, I may be able to cover the necessary parts of it off-screen (via mudmail) with you so that you can proceed as you wish with other characters' involvements. Unfortunately RL has waylaid me in a much bigger way than anticipated the last week+, so I'm a fair way behind schedule; it may be a few weeks yet before I'm done there, and I need to prioritise this for the general use of the whole mud population over single character requests. I've honestly been considering a temporary veto on any property requests for the last month or so, as we just don't have the staff availability to handle them right now, nor revised guidelines in place since the removal of HM status.

I know it sucks to wait, but it's sometimes unavoidable in a volunteer staffed game. We do what we can Smile Please understand that the nature of what you are asking does require direct immortal assistance, it's how this facet of the game works. If you can find something to do in the interim that would not require political involvement, I'd definitely suggest that!

Works for me, we'll just put a pin in it until later.

I didn't want to push you as I know you got RL for real right now and newness is still rolling through, just wanted to get the idea out so other players join if they wanted since its starting to grow. It'll give me a chance to finish my current book I am working on for the game and handle some RL stuff too.

Thanks N you really make it special! Very Happy

My own plot idea (see New New Antioch) requires heavy imm influence. I do as you have done, and roleplay as if it's planned. These are big projects, and can take years of buildup and planning, so it makes sense that you spend a long time IC working towards it. And if you ever get a clear "No, we're not doing this", you can have that be a character arc, and dynamically change your characters goals and mindset.

Everything is RP fodder.

Yeah, by all means feel free to work on it, it'll help you be ready to go when someone upstairs is Smile You can figure out contingencies and allies that might help, etc. My comments were only particular to the property/city liasing side of it. It may give you some interesting options in the meantime!

I've done the whole RP it until I get a "No, we're not doing this." it made things very tricky since ICly none of the RP I did towards it was considered valid but all the RP others had done against me on it was valid. Undelhorn spent 5 RL years doing a dragon god RP with a "maybe" until recently he was told "No, we're not doing this." so the 5 RL years of RP he did all painted him as a delusional crazy dwarf because I just went with it waiting on IMMs.

So no, I'll just place this on hold until we can get a yes or no to avoid that. Its all good N has stuff to do anyway and so do a few people that are involved already so there is no real rush on this, but if you could use a different thread for your plot Xnithi just because we already have 5 in on this one and I wanted to keep this thread to track the plot it was opened for so we could discuss OOC stuff for setting it up and scheduling.

I already have my own thread, it's called New New Antioch. I'm not discussing it here, I was just using it as an example of how to move forward with your own plot. And I thought Undelhorns atheism and disgust with the gods as interesting roleplay and character developement. But, if you don't feel that way, then I get it. Still, if you change your mind, you can use this thread to detail your plans even more for the imms to consider. Maybe look at what would require imm intervention, then figure out what they'd have to do for you, coding-wise and time-wise. Then, you may have a better idea of what is and is not doable, and can adjust your plan appropriately to make it more likely to be approved.

Oh cool Xnithi, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything just trying to compartmentalize. I'll probably be on tonight if you want to talk about New New Antioch and godlessness with Undelhorn who remembers Old Antioch, New Antioch, and the return of their ruler and the return of the fortress that is now over Tharis. I'm slowly adding rumors for all of this, but if you want to meet up on it I'll drop an RP flag when I get home around about 7pm PST.

As for this plot I was thinking of hooking up with The Order of the Eclipse to bind copies of those books of hell they are collecting. I figure they will need evil paper for their evil books and so where better to get paper from than evil trees from the evil forest of Tharis.

Maybe we could have this "accidentally" unleashes a daemon sub-plot by supplying the evil guys with evil books or the company could be the sub-plot to this? I dunno but it seemed like a cool idea.
