I think the reason that nobody collects bounties are because 1) gold has little value nowadays. It takes almost no effort to rack up hundreds of thousands (case in point, I've seen a sub-20th level character collect over 250k in under a day). 2) collecting a bounty also closes off a player to interact with in a mud with a low population at the moment.
The lockers requiring a steady rent would increase the value of gold, and might prompt a bit more action regarding those bounties. |

Do we even have any players RPing a character that would go after bounties? Also gold being easy to get isn't the only thing that depreciates the value of gold. Everything being expensive does as well.
Collecting a 200k bounty gives you enough gold to enchant a +3 weapon to +4.
When you consider the huge risk involved with a PK. It just doesn't become worthwhile. Bounties would have to be around a million gold for it to be a worthwhile risk.
Other Players are much harder to beat then even shifters and if you lose here is no chance for equipment recovery. So if you want the bounty system to be anything more then just an RP tool then the reward would have to be significant. _________________ PM me in the forum here when you want me on to RP or dungeon dive. Currently, I have more than a sack worth of different skin and hides, used for crafting leather stuff.
And poisons I have a lot of poisons stashed up, as it is really rare that the shops have any real useful poisons (for top lvl anyway).
And I bet that other crafters/brewers/enchanters and whutnot have the same problem keeping track on all their marterials.
For this I would really love having a ingame storage, where all components/skins/poisons could be stored when I don't actually use it. |

Personally, I think it might make a little more sense to allow players to have their own "stash" somewhere.
Suppose a vendor sells a strongbox which a player goes and sets up somewhere.
If someone picks it, it'll break. All the stuff fall out and what is not pillaged won't last through the reboot.
Another idea I had was perhaps boat mods. One of the upgrades people could buy for their boat is a storage container.
For a non base boat one would have to pay upkeep in a similar fashion as Ryzan suggested.
It just seems like cities would be in general loathe to risk putting themselves in the line of fire from godlike adventurers. _________________ you can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose |

The code repercussions are starting to make my head spin... and yes, most cities are already "under siege" at times by adventurers, I don't see that most would want to open themselves up to more exposure to that. Private houses were an option mentioned in the past, but that limits it to HM only which is a little restrictive.
Most rooms don't hold storage longterm so setting it up somewhere without hard code behind it would just have it vape.
Boats might be possible? They would need far more in-depth code to support this as they don't hold specific details at present (same reason you can't repaint your boat).
Of course, some highlevel powerful NPCs may be willing to set up storage just like the independent gnomes... and then there would be forces behind it enough to maintain it from most attacks... and charge a fortune in the process |

High level NPCs could work.
Or could make storage a temple thing. _________________ PM me in the forum here when you want me on to RP or dungeon dive. The forum will automatically notify me by e-mail. Then my e-mail will send me a text message. Then I will get on likely within minutes. |
