Nienne said she already had a system planned to automate all that and had already put in some active infrastructure for mass combat. Unless I misunderstood her when I asked her if SG used 2es war machine system.

I apologize that you see as complaining. I am just not a fan of plots that have zero purpose except for getting people together. You have done some awesome plots like Ethius Soul In a Bottle. that one I was able to rp for years after compared to where you break Cyric charge and had Cyric forcefully attack Antioch. That made zero sense to me as a player as it took ig history and said fuck it, let's just have a big battle.

For myself and what seems like the minority these days, deep story telling is the flavor. You asked what plottage people wanted, I just tossed my two cents in.

It isn't am easy job avataring. You'll never please everyone. I think Brando had the flavor is liked with enforcing towns etc. I just didn't agree with his methods getting there. If we want rp as the focus of SG, every avatar interaction should further that purpose in some regard.

The burn out rate for avatars is high. You should do what will make you want to stay. Players are whiny bitches, myself included, who will either enjoy it, avoid it or complain about it. You need to please yourself first as you're dedicating rl time to SG away from rl obligations.

I do have a system in the works for this, but like anything automated it will be a pale shadow to avataring. That said, it would offer a more solid framework longterm for avatars to know where any given player stands in regards to a city or group, and allow them to change that by their actions.

Please note the 'longterm' however as it's a pretty major project of several phases (first already in-game and testing a few months ago; the rest yet to come) and I'm moving house so I won't be getting onto it immediately. All of that said, I do have a fairly broad command of all of our game factions given I was part of the team that wrote up all the history and politics, so it will make it easier Smile

Perhaps transparency with the avatars regarding this project would let them start avataring based on how that project will work before its set up.

There's not really anything it would provide them before implementation anyway - as it's basically going to set each character with a rank for each political faction that can be modified, and they will be able to query/adjust that as they go. It's just physically tracking character info so it can be used across multiple avatars rather than just one or two and the PC really knowing where they stand.

I'll want to try some testing of this with a few HMs when it goes in, particularly if there are some that have "odd" affiliations through their RP (dwarves with good standing in Synoria, elves of rank in Tharis, etc).

If anything, it'll be the system that will need tweaked after it goes in, rather than the avatars basing on the system - as it will only have defaults until existing characters have their affiliations adjusted to suit their RP history.

So why not post the math you are going to use in the avatar forum and let them add points to characters manually? That way you'll have numbers already ready to input when the time comes.

And honestly that's even more royal pain of paperwork for avatars to do when they could be running plots. It would be far more constructive just to continue as we always have, until a better support system is in place. It's a bit overwhelming to think I'm going to sit around once it's coded too and manually put in every number for every PC. That'll be done as situations arise and/or players query, once it's implemented.

What if armies from Qi'sztovir and the drow city on the northern reaches of Dagger suddenly attacked cities in that region (coordinated or each of their own will; I don't know the relationship between the two, if there's any)?

Drow arent exactly known for cooperating with other drow like ever. At least not without massive amounts of internal assasination. Thats why most Drow "armies" tend to just be a lot of slave soldiers commanded by a few drow from a single house.b

My point was, with the Dagger region shaken from recent events involving fey and shadow, might seem like a good opportunity for powers below to take up the offensive against the shaken surface folk. Maybe a temporary drowsy outpost in the mountains for people to interact with. And by interact with, I mean try to push the menace back underground.
