Hey guys, Haven't posted in the forums in some time, Good to see Verbannon is still out and about though. Haven't seen him in game yet on my guy.

Anyhow I'm having trouble connecting to shadowgate when I'm at school, we have a campus wide wifi signal but when I try to sign on to shadowgate it tells me that my connection was refused. Which is weird because I've connected to shadowgate on other public wifi signals before... Anyhow I wonder if someone who is more acquainted with the technical side of Mushclient or Shadowgate would be able to help me or tell me what's going on?

This answer might be very outdated but it was an issue for me back in the day, your schools network might block telnet connections, as was mine after we got caught mudding too much on school computers.

Yeah likely ports/telnet blocked unforch. Only way around I've found is web based clients that connect via their server side (eg mudbrowser) the concern always feeding yer password thru someone's compy. Which I kinda gave up on. Also costs money which sucks to get at a free game.

Bribe your it technician?

Persuade your anthropology/social studies teacher that you are engaged in ethnographic research on gamers? (But never, ever publish - what happens on SG stays on SG...)

Thanks guys, I've given mobile mud clients a shot but they are very unwieldy for basically everything in the game. I was hoping there was just a switch I could flip in an options menu on my computer but I guess that's not the case lol.

phone + it's usb cable and share your phones net to your pc while you mud, problemo solved. Might just wanna check what stuff you have on auto update so you don't start downloading massive files while using your phone.

If you have an android phone with mobile data, you can set up a wifi hotspot with it: settings->more->mobile network sharing. That said, I'd expect limitations on what networks any school computers can connect to, if you are using their machines.

I've shared my 3/4 g connection, or whatever it's called, your phones modem, when my net has gone down, to my pc. So you can bypass your schools network limitations. Just, as said, make sure you computer isn't downloading massive windows update files or whatnot and eat up your gig's
