Hi,
Could monks learn a way of transporting themselves to a different location?
Most(all?) hybrid classes have means of quick transportation(teleport, dimension door, tree stride). Unlike most melee-classes, monks do not get Athletics as a class-skill, making Flying Mount a less viable option.
Most of my initial concerns with the class have been adressed with the recent changes to how bonuses stack. (Thank you for that!) While I don't think it multi-classes very well, it is a decent "stand-alone" class with great flavour. Its powers are very feat-dependent, however, so picking up "skill focus: Athletics" would be costly.
Could make it a monk level 21 ability to reward the single-class monks.
Suggestions:
Way of the Shadow:
Shadow Walk from 3.5, in which the character in question travels through the plane of shadow, as described here:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shadowWalk.htm
(unlike the 3.5 spell, the monk wouldn't be able to bring anyone along.)
Way of The Elements:
Wind Walk, from 3.5, in which the character in question transforms into a cloud-like vapor and moves through the air.
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/windWalk.htm
(unlike the 3.5 spell, the monk wouldn't be able to bring anyone along.)
Way of The Fist:
I can't find any good examples but: When the monk fully masters the Way of the Fist the body and mind becomes one, allowing the body to go where the mind is.
To keep in line with melee/hybrid classes, the code could be based on either dimension door or flying mounts, so that it remains a option for travel, rather than a "get out of pk" card.
Thanks,
Gia
PS: Awesome job on the recent/current coding projects |

I see they do, now. It used to be academics, stealth, endurance and perception. Now it's athletics, endurance + two more depending on your chosen way. My bad! I have been out of commision for a month - can't keep up with all these changes.
I would still love a form of transportation, but it's less vital now.
I would like to question the reasoning behind giving "Way of the Shadow" thievery though? Why would a Lawful Monk be stealing? Wouldn't perception be more useful and in tune with a lawful character concept? Especially considering the feat "Shadow Perception" which gives a +2 to stealth and perception.

Honestly not entirely sure, I didn't even know they had shifting skills dependent on path (clever!). I haven't looked at monks too much in-depth |

I play one and I didn't know. It's new! It certainly helps to give the sub-classes their own flavor, which is cool |

I'd been meaning to review the skills on them as they only had three at one point, but I guess someone got there first... heh. |
