Im so frustrated right now I almost want to cry. I liked the old exp penalty, because it gave me an exp multiplier just for sitting on my duff. It was like a reward for RPing. Whenever I needed to level I would grab a 300k exp item and get a million exp from it.
Please bring back the multiplier so I can go back to never having to do any kind of grinding for levels. I hate grinding. _________________ PM me in the forum here when you want me on to RP or dungeon dive. The forum will automatically notify me by e-mail. Then my e-mail will send me a text message. I recently stuck a post on the ideas board suggesting the imms - at random times, maybe once or twice/day - give away periods of double exp (say for a duration of an hour). The idea being that people would use those times to grind, and the rest of the time roleplaying (theoretically). It would lend a hand to those of us who hate to grind, plus perhaps encourage people to log in to see if a bonus-exp sessions is happening or potentially might happen.
Shadowgate really doesn't need to boost its rate of advancing. Its already too fast, and then people reach the end, gear out, and then quit. So something like this wouldn't punish those who cannot regularly log in for exp, thus are always taxed, while allowing everyone to enjoy some fun, fast exp gathering. Perhaps they could even decrease the rate exp is earned overall, in the off times (tax for everyone!)
Whatcha think? |

I would almost certainly never be on then.
Maybe do something similar to that but using the old tax mechanics. But instead of having the penalty and bonus work a long period of time. Have it work in a matter of hours. Like for the first million(or whatever they find most acceptable for said level) exp a day your exp is doubled but then after that hour it is halved until the next day. _________________ PM me in the forum here when you want me on to RP or dungeon dive. Why would you never be on then?
I mean beyond the part about decreasing overall exp gain, which was sort of a joke (although I really don't think we need to increase the speed of leveling at all, so it was a consideration of balancing things out, at least), there's really nothing to be lost by random happy fun xp gathering time.
Your way could work as well on a scale, although I imagine it would lead to a lot of people logging on, getting their exp, and logging off again. Not that my way wouldn't do the same. But at least my way has an element of randomness that people might wait around for.
I believe there's a pretty large boost in exp gain when partying, too, so you could always aim to do that as well. |

No I mean I would never be on during the exp hour. My time is not flexible. And people RP when they want to RP. You can't force them to. All you can do is stop making it a choice between RPing and leveling. _________________ PM me in the forum here when you want me on to RP or dungeon dive. Maybe you can bribe an imm with cookies, to make sure you're always on. |
