Players

If you notice anything strange with followers being able to drop their equipment again it is a BUG and not supposed to happen. I edited the code to try and help a new player get something back for them as they were RPing situation and did not know better. It is something we normally won't do and won't do again going forward. However, I returned the code to its previous state and it should be working fine. If it doesn't, please bug it. There should not be a bug, but I wanted to prewarn everyone as my test follower had no issues. If a bug is discovered and people abuse them I will report them to law immediately and remove them from any plots going forward.

Going forward no refunds(as originally stated) will be given for followers items that you give to them. If you need to RP the follower giving you something like a sack, drink whatever no matter the item, emote it out and RP it, then just pick it up as your player.

Next, I saw some players calling out other players recently because of the way that followers used to be and the changes that were installed years ago. All players including myself for the most part were guilty of abusing this and Nienne made a call that still allowed us to equip them instead of preinstalled equipment. Please do not bash your fellow players even if they are not around anymore for their mistakes. If you do so and I catch you consistently doing this, I'll start bashing you as openly and I see a lot more than you do. That doesn't mean we can't give each other a hard time, but it is more of an issue when we call someone out who isn't around. We have all done stupid shit.

Going forward refunds on mundane items will not be given. Anything that is determined you can easily reacquire will not be given out. Our time is valuable and whether we like to admit it, burnout is high as immortals, we have all seen phase with none of us, so please do the leg work yourself. As a player I use the following rules and I personally will not refund the following items. Whether someone else does so is their judgement call.

Anything you can buy
Crafting materials like metals, leather, etc..
Perfumes even if found through exploration
Wands and orbs as they are highly random even for us cloning them!

In general Mundane or easily acquired items for your level. Please be respectful of our time. If you can go grab it in 2 seconds, just do so. Even if it costs you gold, kits etc.

If I sound frustrated, I apologize, but I am. I have learned a lot in my last 6 weeks since returning. I alluded to burn out being very high and it happens because of the following.

10 characters(average) playing could be 5 players or 10
10 characters each having 2 to 3 requests
20-30 requests
2-4 imms
6-7 requests per imm plus our own plots/projects
Then that list grows bigger if you're Ares, Nienne, Saide, Lujke and VERY skilled at coding or someone like myself who really wants to try and help. I spend hours trying to figure out simple requests.

So I'd ask that going forward you really consider if the request or complaint is needed or if it is more important to take a hit and just deal with it as a player. If you're not seriously broken, probably just easier to let it go.

This isn't meant to be harsh and while I'm sure it probably comes across as such, I'm a bit annoyed as previously alluded to by the amount of complaining, requests, bitching of late. While I could be overruled by the Game Admins and will accept their judgement, they are amazing at allowing immortals to handle situations differently. So until N/Saide over rules me please abide by these and help us by limiting your complaints, groans, AKA BITCHING fest that happens and if you're seriously bugged do ask for help if you're not seriously bugged please try to fix it yourself.

On a side note. To any immortal I've flipped out on in my 15 plus years you have my sincere apologize and I'm ashamed of my actions. I had forgotten completely your POV from my limited time as Anhur and probably never understood as a true avatar(very limited role). I understand now fully as a wiz and will do better anytime I deal with immortals as a player going forward or you have my permission to just restrict my lines/thoughts/tells without warning or forums Smile

Lastly, any issues with this can be mailed directly to me at kassius.sgmud@gmail.com, PMed here or mudmailed. I made these judgement calls, so please don't both the other staff.

Thank you,
Kas

Great post Kass - *thumbs up*

It's easy to take for granted the fact that we have such a dedicated team of imm's to donate their time to provide us with this platform to have our fun on.

But lets keep things in perspective.

They're not getting paid, they're taking time away from their friends and family and we as a player base we can be pretty demanding and unappreciative of the work they do.

I know that I certainly have been. My only defense is that I was an immature self entitled jerk at times Razz.

So lets all put our big boy/girl pants on and keep it fun for everyone and show each other the same respect you'd want to be shown, which goes for all players past and present.

No probs with the call here. Burn-out for imms is a very real concern, one I'd like to address but am not sure entirely how at this point. Part of it is the origins of our game - as close to tabletop as possible - which means a constant GM presence that just isn't feasible from a thinly spread volunteer staff group. A lot of those expectations are embedded in the mindset of our longterm players, which can cause upset when calls are made to try and alleviate the expectations. Please be patient with us; we will need to continue working towards reducing imm dependence where possible.

In the same vein, some other suggestions you may be able to take on board:

-Found a bug? It's not breaking you? Please bugreport it! Mailing to a specific imm, even if they are active, can apply a feeling of obligation & pressure to that imm. Calling for someone over the lines can directly disrupt work they may be in the middle of - whether that be coding, or plot-work, or other. It may take a little longer for the matter to get fixed, but it will let someone get to it when they are in a good position to actually deal with it!

-Are you broken? Is it urgent? Please call over an available line, or via thought, and provide concise information so that someone appropriate can deal with it. A call of "help help I have a problem" may not attract the assistance you need. A call of "help, I'm stuck in a room and the exits are broken" is much more helpful! If you are in no further present danger, I would suggest to wait at least a little while for a response; I often walk away from the keyboard for a few minutes and return to find a player has already logged out once an immediate response was not forthcoming.

-Is your gear borked? Did the <recover> command not restore it properly? If you are able, and do not get an immediate response, please log out and query for help on an alt. Gear backups sweep every 12hrs if you are online, so if something is gone, and you are online and item-less when it re-sweeps, it will overwrite the only useful copy we can easily retrieve. Staying off the character in question may be the difference between a recoverable item, and one that is permanently lost. While I know your equipment is important to you, gear recovery can be an arduous process from our side, so please be considerate!

Thank you Smile
