Hey all!

Feeling proactive today so thought I would throw another idea out for pondering. The Who list is a completely ooc tool that gives players the opportunity to see who all is online but also causes some ooc knowledge crossover that some people might like to avoid.

My suggestion is simple, why not make appearing on the wholist by name entirely optional?

If you opt out your name can just show up as UNKNOWN or something like that. This way people still know how many people are online, but those who might want to avoid advertising in an ooc source can remain anonymous. I feel like this is a win win for everyone because those who want to be known can be and those who would prefer to be discovered only by IC means can have that too.

Thoughts?

How would I know when I need to start whispering, as opposed to just saying all my secrets aloud?! And, what, am I supposed to just detect scrying ALL the time?

You're a monster.

Just kidding, I like it. This would be great.

I'm down with it as I've seen it work rather well, but only if Greater Divination casters get a Who class spell or something to make up for it as we should be able to divine someone's whereabouts and since there are times when PCs are offline and not online like IRL we cannot divine and interact with those we scry on like we would if we all were on 100% of the time. Basically we'd still need a system to notify at least diviners of when some logs in as it is within their spell set to detect that.

I’m with Undelhorn on this one. Perhaps a variation of clairvoyance that lets the caster know who is “out and about” at the moment. That would make the result IC knowledge, however, but maybe that makes sense?
