There is so much on both the site on the mud that is out of date. I recommend to solve it players find help files that are out of date, type up an update to it, post it in this thread then an imm at their leisure can just copy and paste the update.

We may need however a format for the help files if thats necessary.

At least two new players have been overwhelmed and confused by the posters. Something should be done explaining they re obsolete. Lik a note WARNING: THESE ARE OBSOLETE.

Its no wonder we can't keep players though. Its not that there is a learning curve its that so much is obsolete and leads newbies astray.

We should upload Trillet's SG colors to the main site for download. Would be a big draw.

Posters, I can handle; I'll try to remember sometime soon. Can't recall offhand how trillet's thing works but may be possible? The wiki is probably too much for me to handle, given already updating code & website, but if players want to work on it I think that's the idea of the wiki - that anyone can contribute? It's been an awfully long time since I looked at the wiki tbh, I wasn't considering it active at this point. So yer welcome to repurpose it if you like.

Anyone know anything about wikis? Like if I find an obsolete page, like the antipaladin page, that is locked from editing. Should I make a different updated anti-paladin page just to note that its a legacy article now? Because octo seems to have locked every page yet I recall him once wanting players to contribute.

The basics page is telling people to roll up cavaliers and I can't fix it. It was suggested on the mud a new wiki gets made, everything gets moved to except except the histories that get moved to this forum.

But I assume you have Admin status so if you could unlock them or temp make me an admin so I can unlock them. I think that would be more ideal.

It's ok, I actually cleared it out for use yesterday. Honestly I don't mind if the wiki becomes player-run - a lot of games have player-made wikis to add stories & guides that might help new players. I've removed all official content from it (given it was just replicating the website & extremely out of date), but left all player- & imm-generated original content (stories, city/church histories, etc) as many players used it for expanded backgrounds, roleplaying hints, etc - which could well be useful to a lot of new players.

So at this point the wiki is free game if anyone wants to mess around with it. Just keep in mind it won't be 'officially sanctioned mud content' so to speak, as I'm not going to have the time to code + update the official website + check over the wiki.

Just please avoid guides that would break game rules - eg/ "here is how to do quest x from start to finish", or "here's a map of zone x" - since that will spoil the chance for newbies to explore on their own. No walk-throughs! Beyond that, if anyone wants to put up stories, or "how to mage" guides, or whatever, feel free. Tiamat's guide to how-to-RP-stats is already up there, along with a few others Smile
