General mud status update:

Hi all! A couple recent updates as a general FYI...

-Saide has decided to step down from the game. A HUGE thank you to all his efforts here over the years, the game wouldn't be what it is without them! He is still currently hosting the game server and is helping us out with where to go from here; we don't feel it's fair to leave that onus on him longterm however so we will be looking at alternatives going forward. We will let you know of any upcoming changes, issues or downtime.

-With Saide gone and Octo usually only semi-active, this will leave most of the responsibility for admin on me. Please be kind! I am going to be still buried under a heavy RL workload until office closure on 22nd Dec, and am sizing up my availability for a potential Xmas world plot, which may or may not happen depending if I have enough setup done. To this end, most major admin-level decisions/changes won't be actioned til I hit holidays & have the time to consider properly.

I am extremely conscious right now of severe immortal burn-out on several fronts, myself included; it's a demanding and often thankless task for which we volunteer. I will be particularly looking for options that reduce immortal dependence going forward; I need to ensure game enjoyment & wellbeing not just for players, but for our immortal staff as well, which is a challenge given our game style and culture. I know not everyone, particularly older players, have liked some recent suggestions, and while all feedback will be considered, please be understanding if certain changes don't suit you personally. We will continue to endeavor to keep the game as open to varied playstyles as possible, so that you have the freedom to play the game in the way you most enjoy. Thanks in advance for your support!

Thank you, Saide, and thank you, N, for taking this weight! I hope things can get automated soon. If we can lighten your loads, let us know! I think most players will at least try, and hopefully, others will step up to do more.

Ahh, farewell Saide you crazy troll. Best wishes with whatever you're up to next, and thanks for all you've done for Shadowgate. I'm sure the door will remain open, should you be tempted back some day.
